18 Sep I Am Not Your Momma’s Jewelry Store
Or… maybe I should say I’m Not Your Grandma’s Jewelry Store…
Either way, I bet you know what I mean.
I hear this from my clients all the time. Guys who are ready to propose tell me they told their friends how working with me was nothing like the vibe they get when they go to a “regular” jewelry store looking for an engagement ring.
Husbands tell me how much their wives appreciate having truly handmade pieces that have “some thought behind them.”
And my clients all tell me how much they appreciate the amount of information I give them when we’re working together to create a custom piece of jewelry, or when I’m restoring an heirloom piece for them.
My work is about honoring narrative. What I mean by that is that the reason why someone wants to buy a cool piece of jewelry is so much more important to me than what piece they choose to buy.
Jewelry is personal. It is an intimate art form with the power to inspire, encourage and nurture the wearer and those around him/her.
So, when you come to me to talk about having something made, the first thing I do is listen. I want to know why. And then I may ask you some questions, and as you’re answering me, I will be looking for design elements in the story you tell. This part is one of my superpowers. 😉
I will not try to sell you the biggest diamond I can find. And I will be really transparent with you about my process and my pricing.
Things really are better for both of us this way.
