07 Aug Little notes truly make my day…
The parade of client stories across my bench through the years helps to keep me engaged in my work. Each one is unique, and so worthy of my best effort to create jewelry pieces that honor those narratives.
I imagine myself an octogenarian someday, in my front-porch rocker with a mint julep and a folding fan, reflecting on those faces and stories that have provided the meaning in my work.
I’ll remember Susan and her zest for life as she commissioned bangles for her girlfriends as part of her “favorite things” holiday basket for each of them.
I’ll remember Juris, the new father who asked me to make a locket for his wife with a large Latvian amber from their home country in honor of their new baby girl, Amber.
I’ll remember Maribeth, the oncology patient who commissioned rings for her children to remind them of her love for them even in her absence.
And, I’ll remember Kyle and his attention to detail as we designed an engagement ring for his love that represented both his architectural expertise and their love of the outdoors. Despite his apprehension with popping the question (he quietly held on to the finished ring for weeks, months even), he must have been confident she’d say “YES!” because he had me make a coordinating wedding band at the same time.
Soon after that I had the pleasure of working with Kyle’s bride, Kristen, to design a band for Kyle as well. And, before the wedding, we designed and created earrings and a necklace for all the women in their lives – sisters, mothers, grandmother… as wedding party gifts from the couple to each of them.
I loved working with Kyle and Kristen at every stage of the process. This week I opened an email from Kristen that truly made my day….
Now that the “craziness” has slowed down, I can finally email and say THANK YOU! 🙂 The rings are absolutely perfect – I can’t thank you enough for all of your help and especially your patience.
The earrings are absolutely stunning, and to be honest, I’m kicking myself for not making me a pair! Every time I see my mom or Bonnie they are wearing the earrings, and mom admitted they are her new favorite pair.Thank you so much again – you have truly made this so special and meaningful to me and Kyle. I can’t tell you enough how much I not only love the rings (I’m still shocked at what Kyle did!), but also the other jewelry.I’ve attached a couple pictures from the wedding – enjoy!Until our next adventure…(which will probably be Christmas…dad and I have an awesome idea for mom!)Kristen
